The courts and jail are a part of the Mecklenburg County Criminal Justice System. Working with the courts and jail are the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies, the District Attorney's Office and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. These agencies are supported by various social and human service agencies, mediation and negotiation facilitators.
